The Great Jubilee is a top rated hotel strategically located in Sultan Bathery, Wayanad, Kerala with good amenities and hospitable staffs. It hosts 36 well-appointed rooms with premium bed linen and well-maintained amenities.
Hospitality: Am mentioning hospitality at the top of the list is because this ranks above everything in the hotel. All staffs are courteous, well trained and really helpful. The manager of Hotel, Mr. Ravi, is the ever smiling hero of the place and will never leave any stone unturned to make your experience memorable. If you need a guide, ask him to arrange it. I visited this place on my birthday and my wife made some secret arrangement over here at the hotel. She was coordinating the plan with Mr. Ravi and he was really excited about it. In the same trip, I stayed at Banasura Hill Resort paying rental 5 times of this place but I find the hospitality here better. Kudos to the team there!
Location/How to reach: The hotel is strategically located, in the middle of Sultan Bathery town. While coming from Bangalore, it’s on the left side, after the traffic signal. But the road beyond traffic signal is one way till 9 in the evening. So you need to take left from the signal and then first right. This road will end in a T-junction, facing assumption hospital . Take a right from here and you will find the hotel on the right. This road comes from Kozhikode. The Malabar gold shop adjacent to it is a prominent landmark.
Hotel/Rooms: The hotel and rooms are good and well maintained. It’s over 3 floors. The first floor hosts the in-house restaurant and the ayurvedic centre. They have 5 types of rooms, Residence, Comfort, Club, Superior and Suite . The Residence rooms are all non-ac, Comfort has both the option. Other room types are all AC. All rooms are available in Single and Double occupancy rates. I stayed in Residence room which is moderately sized and fine enough for two. The bathroom is small but manageable and clean. They do provide a 24 inch LCD TV. The TV/Coffee maker was missing. They have it only in the premium rooms.
Food/Restaurant: They have 2 restaurants in the premises. One is open to all and the other is dedicated for the residents. They seem to serve best food in Sultan Bathery. You can make out from the number of parked vehicles. I did find the non-veg food as really delicious. The taste of all the items will have the local touch and some made in coconut oil but will be really sumptuous. I tried Kadai Chicken and it was good. On the next day of my trip, I was on vegetarian diet and I find that pretty average and not at par with their non-veg but for sure pretty eatable. The menu has limited options but I feel it makes sense to serve few good item and many average items.
They do have:
Wifi with decent speed
Ample Car Parking
Hot and Cold water
When to stay in this hotel: Wayanad is big and stretched out and one trip would not be enough. If this trip is about visited attractions and to-do activities, this hotel is for you. Pure value for money, well located near activities around Sultan Bathery. You can go for local shopping in the market. The near-by attractions are Jain Temple, which is just 200 metres, Phantom Rock and Eddekkal Cave is less than 12 kms and Muthanga Wildlife santuary is14 kms away. For going to Muthanga, you need to drive back toward Bangalore.
When to skip this hotel: Being in Wayanad, you should be between nature. I would love to be in a homestay or resort between tea, coffee or spice plantation and love to wake up between chirping of birds and cold breeze of the hills than in a Business hotel, providing facilities I would have loved to stay in this hotel, if I needed a stay metro city. Secondly, the more strategical location is Kalpetta, which has all major attractions less than 30kms.
Sultan Bethary is the eastern gateway of Wayanad and so does the hotel. Lakkidi Viewpoint is 40 kms. So you need to drive 80kms to and fro. The same is Banasura Sagar Dam and 40kms and in another direction. So you will need to drive a lot!
